He was born October 11, 1916 in Austria, Germany. He moved to the United States when he was eighteen and earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Steven Leitkam, Brownsville, PA, Leslie Scappucci and husband Carmen, Scottdale, AR and stepson Richard Gillmore, Winterpark, FL; three grandchildren, Lori Dominick and husband Ed, Meadowlands, PA, Jennifer Leitkam, Pittsburgh, PA and Nicholas Leitkam, Pittsburgh, PA; and four great grandchildren, Corey and Chev Dominick and Addison and Carson Leitkam.
