William L. Conaway Jr., 75, of Brownsville, passed away after battling cancer on July 20th, 2025. William was born on March 29th, 1950 to the late William L. Sr. and Alice L. (Dimitric) Conaway.
William had a passion for history and art. He had a bachelor’s degree in History and a master’s degree in Art History. William was a well-known artist and even created a mural for the Smithsonian Museum of American History that is now being held in their archives. He was a member of the Brownsville Historical Society and would volunteer at Nemacolin Castle, lending a hand anyway he could. Most importantly William was a beloved husband and wonderful father and grandfather to his family, of whom will miss him dearly.
Surviving to cherish Wiliam’s memory; his beloved wife Shirley Conaway, his son William Conaway, his grandchildren Courtney, William IV, and Shirley Conaway. Also, his sisters Dawn (Russ) Snyder, Gretchen Blazus, Sharon Winters, and Kathy (Denny) Detrick.
