Walter Porter, Sr.

Walter Porter, Sr., 82, of Brownsville, PA, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, December 8, 2008 at home, with his loving family by his side.

He was born August 13, 1926 in Vesta 6, PA, the son of the late George and Ethel (Rice) Porter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Alvin Porter.

Walter was a retired miner. He served in the armed forces and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Porter, one son, Walter Porter, Jr. and his wife Joyce, of Wooster, Ohio; two daughters, Cynthia Sungala and husband, Bill, of Denbo, PA and Barbara Hatfield, and husband Warren, of East Millsboro, PA. five grandchildren, Jason Porter Hatfield, Rebekah and Seth Sungala, and Amy and Amanda Porter; two brothers, Robert and Harry Porter of Vesta 6; one sister, Opal Albert of Vesta 6 and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9pm and Thursday, December 11, 2008 until 11 am, the hour of service, with the Rev. Barry Stewart officiating.

Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brownsville, PA.
