Robert "Bob" W. Gettemy

Robert  W. Gettemy, "Bob"  , 88, of Brownsville, PA, died on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at home after a short illness.

He was born October 26, 1927 in Greensburg, PA, the son of Robert H. And Hazel (Cumpson) Gettemy.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Anne Kelly Gettemy and by his sister, Marianne Gettemy Schofield.

He graduated from Brownsville High School, Class of 1945 and Douglas Business School.  He entered the U.S. Navy in June 1945 and served on the USS Tidewater until July 1946.  Bob was retired from Allied Chemical Corporation in Newell, PA where he worked for 38 years.  He was Protestant by faith.

Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Susan Gettemy, Brownsville, PA, Cathy (Loland) Burns, Washington, PA and Linda Gettemy, Pittsburgh, PA; two grandchildren, Eric Gettemy, Pittsburgh, PA and Emily Burns, Pittsburgh, PA; one great grandson, Declan Gettemy, Pittsburgh, PA.  Bob is also survived by many good friends and neighbors.

Bob has been a lifelong supporter of all Brownsville Falcon sports teams, Pitt, and all Pittsburgh professional sports teams.

Professional services are in the care of NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA.  At the request of the deceased, there will be no public services.
