Richard P. Filchock

Richard P. Filchock, 74, of Brownsville, PA, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012,  at home.

He was born March 11, 1938, in Brownsville, PA , the son of the late Joseph F. and Anne Louise (Kramer) Filchock.   In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by Loretta L. (McIntosh) Filchock , his wife of 49 years.

Richard was  very passionate about his family and his community, often putting others needs before his own.  He was an accomplished educator for over 30 years, serving the community of Charleroi, PA as a high school math teacher, who was routinely recognized by students as a talented and caring instructor.  He was also as instructor of Computer Science and Technology at California University of PA where he combined his love of teaching and passion for advanced technology.  Richard was an accomplished HAM radio operator and utilized his license and talent as the engineer for the California University of PA radio station for many years.  At home, he focused on the lives and activities of his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed being a master gardener.

He will be sadly missed by his five children, Michael Filchock and wife Mona, Reston, VA, Steven Filchock and wife Euna, Weston, CT, Annie Isanogle and husband Scott, Fredrick, MD, Mark Filchock, Brownsville, PA and Janet Zelner and husband David, Hiller, PA; ten grandchildren Jordan, Amanda, Nicholas, Joshua, Lauren, Douglas, Claire, Dustin, Emma and Anna; brother Joseph Filchock; sister Joanne Burkus; and by his extended family and many friends.

Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA on Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 6-8 PM and Monday, November 26, 2012 from 3-8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 9:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, California, PA with Rev. Father Michael Zavage as celebrant. 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Richard's name to the Center in the Woods, 130 Woodland Court, Brownsville, PA 15417.
