Pete Jay Mattie, Jr., of Brownsville, PA, passed away Monday, December 22, 2008 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Brownsville, the son of the late Pete Mattie, Sr. and Helen Medrala Mattie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Jarold Jay Mattie in 1953, three brothers Raymond Mattie, Stanley Dubart and John Dubart and three sisters Eleanor King, Lillian Kliazyk and Midge Slusarczyk.
Pete served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He received many awards during his service, the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart, to name a few.
Pete will be sadly missed by his wife Tracey Givens Mattie, Brownsville; his four children: his daughter Marlene Fox and his three children with his previous wife Pat: Jay Mattie, Michele Conti and Tawni Beck; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; one great-great grandchild; eight nieces; four nephews; one great niece; four great nephews and his mother- in- law Harriet Givens.
Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME 515 Front Street Brownsville, PA on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 and Wednesday, December 24, 2008 until 11:00am the hour of service with the Rev. Father James Clark officiating.
Interment will follow in Acklin Cemetery, Brownsville, PA.
Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Posts 295, 940 and 838.
