Patricia K. McCann (nee Yeardie), age 75of Brownsville, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 7, 2017 with her loving children and grandchildren at her side.
Patty was born on July 27, 1941 in Brownsville, PA to James and Marie (Voorp) Yeardie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alex W. McCann I, in 1999, brother Samuel Yeardie and sisters, Mary Louise Riley and Joann Bakewell.
She is survived by her children, daughter Gale (McCann) Barry and husband Ronald and son Alex W. McCann II, who provided excellent care which allowed her to stay in her home for most her illness; grandchildren (whom she adored) Alexandra Marie Barry, Kaitlyn Ann Barry, Patrick Fitzgerald Barry and Ella Margaret Barry. She is also survived by her dear sister, Elizabeth Lawver, brother in law Richard Riley, sister in law Melody Yeardie and several nieces and nephews.
Patty worked for the former G.C. Murphy department store in downtown Brownsville as a clerk during the 1950’s and 60’s. In her later years she was a homemaker.
She was a die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame (her “Little Catholic Boys”) and enjoyed bingo. She was a fixture at the Sons of Italy bingo and the South Brownsville Fire Department bingo for many years. Patty was also a skilled and avid card player and enjoyed playing with family and friends.
Viewing will be private for the family. Friends are welcome to join the family for a committal service at LaFayette Memorial Park, Chapel of Peace, Brier Hill, PA on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 11:30 AM with Rev. Father Timothy J. Kruthaupt officiating.
Friends will be received at South Brownsville Fire Department immediately following the service.
