Marion Clyde (Tinny) Turner, 70 of Brownsville Pennsylvania, passed away enveloped lovingly by his daughters, nephew, grandchildren and a close family friend in the comfort of his home on September 19th, 2015, through complications of a service related cancer.

Marion was born in Royal (Chestnut Ridge) Pennsylvania on February 9th 1945 to George C. and Martha Jane (Green) Turner. He attended Redstone High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. Marion proudly served his country for 24 years. Completed two tours of duty during Vietnam and continuing to serve aboard several Aircraft Carriers, the Ponce being his last. He went on to retire as a Senior Chief Petty Officer Naval Career Counselor in 1984 from Oceana Naval Airbase Virginia Beach VA. He unremittingly joined and thrived with Mayflower Transit becoming the Safety Director for the entire North-Eastern Division based in St Louis MO. After his second retirement he then remained active and continuously committed to serving his fellow man prospering at Goodwill Industries and finally coming full circle aiding other Veterans through Fayette County Veteran’s Affairs. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Marion was happily married to Dora Jean Jackson on September 26th, 1964 until her untimely death in April of 2000.

Marion is survived by his three daughters, Marian Celeste Pierson of San Diego CA, Betty Jo Turner-Moats and spouse Briscoe Wayne of Latrobe PA, and Sally Jean Turner of Brownsville PA, four grandchildren Marion C. Turner, Terrell Mark Steven Picklesimon, Lauren Christine (Turner) Watford, and Karl Pierson Jr., 2 great grandchildren, Amiya Paige and Layla Jo,loving nieces and nephews, cousins, in laws, and other family along with friends who have also provided great joy in his life.

Marion is preceded in death by his parents, a brother George E. Turner, a sister Dorothy Celeste (Turner) Branson, his wife Dora Jean (Jackson) Turner, a son Clyde Henry Turner, two brothers in law George Richard Branson, and George Wallace Jackson, Jr.

The funeral service will be held at 11AM Friday September 25th, 2015 at NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, Brownsville. The Reverend Cynthia Hackett of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Grindstone will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 6-8 PM on September 24th 2015 at Novak Funeral Home Brownsville. Burial will follow the funeral at LaFayette Memorial Park at 12:30 PM. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Novak Funeral Home Brownsville 515 Front Street Brownsville Pa.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The American Cancer Society or Disabled American Veterans (DAV). The family of Marion Clyde (Tinny) Turner wishes to thank the staff and doctors at the Mon Valley Oncology Center and Vitas Hospice for their kindness and support.
