Julia (Mekovich) Kara

Julia Mekovich Kara, 84, of West Brownsville, PA, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Country Care Manor in Fayette City, PA.  

She was born November 16, 1927, in Brownsville, PA, the daughter of George and Anna Mekovich.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alexander "Shunny" Kara ,  five brothers and two sisters.

Julia will be sadly missed by her three daughters Alexis Tonkavitch and husband Greg, West Brownsville, PA, Denise Sloan and husband Rex, Mullica Hill, NJ and Juliann Sloan and husband Pat, Rosedale, MD;  five grandchildren Shane, Amanda, Alexa, Kara and Brittnay; eight great grandchildren; two sisters Mary Duda, West Newton, PA and Pauline Duda, Michigan and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA, Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 6 - 9 PM.  Committal Services will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:00 AM at LA FAYETTE MEMORIAL PARK in the Chapel of Peace, Brier Hill, PA with the Rev. Alexander Jalso officiating.
