John "Turpie" King, Jr., 62, of West Brownsville, PA, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008 at home with his loving family by his side.

He was born August 5, 1945 in Brownsville, PA the son of Emma Mildred Crum King and the late John King, Sr.

John served his country with the U.S. Army in Vietnam and also in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of the American Legion Bakewell Phelps Post 940 in West Brownsville and also a member of the Brownsville Lodge No 60 F&A.M. He was a proud member of the West Brownsville Volunteer Fire Co. for 37 years. He was the current President of the Fire Co. and a past Assistant Chief.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his three grandchildren whom he adored. He was a member in the Thursday night bowling league at Gudac Bowling Lanes for many years. He also loved to golf and was a member of the Springdale Senior Golf League.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 37 years Debby Lue Herrington King, West Brownsville, PA, his three children Todd King and wife Regina, West Brownsville, PA, Chad King and wife Crystal, West Brownsville, PA and Deana Zamiska and husband Jason, Richeyville, PA, three loving grandchildren Caty King, Rylee Zamiska and Aubrey King, two brothers Leslie "Les" King and wife Lonna, West Brownsville, PA and William "Toad" King and wife Cindy, Brownsville, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME 515 Front Street Brownsville, PA today from 7 - 9pm, Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 9pm and Wednesday, June 4, 2008 until 11:00am the hour of service with Rev. Ellenberger officiating.

Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.

Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Posts #940, #838, and #295.

The West Brownsville American Legion Post 940 will hold a service in the funeral home tonight at 8:00pm.
Brownsville Lodge No. 60 F&A.M. will hold their service Tuesday night in the funeral home at 6:30pm and the West Brownsville Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a service at 8:00pm Tuesday night in the funeral home.

Memorial donations can be made in Turpie's name to West Brownsville VFD 238 Middle Street, West Brownsville, PA 15417.
