John Roman, 92, Brownsville, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018.
He was born June 29, 1926 in West Brownsville, PA, the son of Andrew and Helen Roman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Adams) Roman and all three of his siblings, Christine, Charles and Mary.
John served his country in the United States Army during WWII with Patton’s 3rd Army 26th Division. He worked in Vesta 5 mine and the prep plant. He belonged to the United Mine Workers local 762 and Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church in West Brownsville. John also was a farmer all his life.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Darla Roman Vihlidal, Washington, PA; son, John D. Roman, Gainesville, VA; son, Andy M. Roman and Cissy, Brownsville, PA; and granddaughter, Alyssa A. Vihlidal, Washington, PA.
Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 9: 00 AM in Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church, West Brownsville, PA with the Very Rev. Stephan Gresh as celebrant.
Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery, Brownsville, PA.
Panachida service will be held Monday, October 22, 2018 at 7:30 PM in the funeral home.
