Jerry R. Martini, 81, of Grindstone, PA, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008 in the Monongahela Valley Hospital.
He was born September 22, 1927 the son of Francis and Missalina Silvani Martini.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Juanita Marshall Martini, a brother Samuel Martini and a grandson H. Bryon Martini.
He served with the Merchant Marines and in the Army with the 511th Parachute Infantry 11th Air Bourne Division in World War II.
Jerry was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially with his brothers reminiscing about the early days. He was an avid sports fan and card player. He also coached Little League for 17 years.
He will be sadly missed by his eight children David and wife Cathy, Roscoe, PA, Bruce and wife Patty, Duncansville, PA, Les and wife Donna, Perryopolis, PA, Sherry Bochna and husband Gary, Greensboro, PA, Dale and wife Cindy, Merrittstown, PA, Bryon and wife Rhonda, Perryopolis, PA, Jeffery, Grindstone, PA and Lisa Johnson and husband Bernard, Coal Hill, PA; three brothers Raymond Martini, Silvio Martini and wife Francie, and Isadore Martini all of Grindstone, PA; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA tonight from 7- 9 pm, Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm and Monday, October 27, 2008 until 1:00 pm the hour of service with the Rev. Aleda Arnold Menchyk officiating.
Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Posts 940, 838, and 295.
Rev. Aleda Arnold Menchyk will hold a prayer service tonight in the funeral home.
