George "Bunny" Thompson, 82, of Grindstone, PA passed away Thursday April 12, 2007 at Cannonsburg General Hospital, Cannonsburg, PA.
He was born June 2, 1924 in Star Junction, PA the son of the late John and Alice Thrasher Thompson. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers John Henry (Hiney) Thompson & Frank William (Bucky) Thompson and 2 sisters Betty Rehe and Ada L. Pierce.
George was a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII in the European Theater. He was also a past County Commander.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maxine Dale Thompson, Grindstone, PA; 3 children Helen Marlene Zeli & husband Vince, Belle Vernon, PA, Renee Maxine Sphar & husband Blaine, Grindstone, PA and George Edgar (Spanky) Thompson, Jr. & wife Lorraine, Waldorf, MD; 5 grandchildren Samuel Zeli & wife Melissa, Youngwood, PA, Lance Zeli & wife Aimee, Canonsburg, PA, Janine Workman King & husband Eric, Blainsburg, PA, Ronald E. Workman, Grindstone, PA and Amanda Thompson, Waldorf, MD; Great grandchildren Katie Zeli, Canonsburg, PA, Lance Christian Zeli, Canonsburg, PA, Jaxon Zeli, Youngwood, PA & Luke Zeli, Youngwood, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA on Sunday, April 15, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9pm and Monday, April 16, 2007 until 11:30 am the hour of service with Rev. Sue Currie of the First Presbyterian Church, Belle Vernon, PA officiating.
