Gene D. West

Gene D. West, 61, of Republic, passed away at home with his loving family by his side on June 28th, 2026. Gene was born in Brownsville on October 2nd, 1964 to his late father Donald James West and his surviving mother Patty Gale (Cox) West.

Baptist by faith; Gene was a former member of Bible Baptist Church in Uniontown. Gene loved the outdoors; he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he was especially kind to all wildlife and even rescuing certain animals that needed help. Gene was a member of the Brownsville Gun Club and a member of the NRA. Gene was a very successful truck driver in his trade, and he loved riding his Harleys and being on the open road and visiting new places.

Surviving to cherish Gene’s memory; his beloved wife Christi West, his son Robert (Samantha) Elmore, his mother Patty Gale West, his sisters Don (Gage) Lisa West, Shelby (Matt) McVicker, and Abby (Will) West and his brother Mark A. West, and his grandchildren Colton and Blake Sprouse, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Gene is preceded in death by his brothers Jimmy Donald West, Robert Joseph West, and Larry Kelly.

Friends and family will be received from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026 at NOVAK-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA 15417.
