Evelyn C. (Elliott) McKnight

Evelyn C. (Elliott) McKnight, 99, of West Brownsville, PA, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013.

She was born April 13, 1914 in Blainesburg, PA, the daughter of James S. and Verna (Fulmer) Elliott.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harry E. McKnight and three sisters, Violet Wilson, Marie Chalfant and her five year old sister Gladys Elliott.

After graduating from high school, Evelyn went on to attend secretarial school at Duff's Business College in Pittsburgh.  She owned and operated, along with her husband, McKnight Grocery in West Brownsville.  After his death she sold the store and worked various secretarial positions, finally retiring from W. Scott Bowman Insurance and Real Estate in Brownsville.  Evelyn was also a lifelong member of the South Brownsville United Methodist Church.

She will be sadly missed by her two children, Kay (McKnight) Nussbaumer, Connellsville, PA and Harry E. McKnight, Jr. and wife Debbie, West Brownsville, PA; four grandchildren, James Nussbaumer, Jill Price and husband Jim, Jeff Nussbaumer and wife Samantha and Dr. Stacie McKnight; nine great grandchildren, Evan and Addison Price, Isabella Nussbaumer, Mathew and Samuel Soisson, Lucas, Hunter, Cody, and Jesse Nussbaumer;  niece Joyce Howe and husband Dr. Robert Howe; nephews Terry Wilson and wife Esther and Kenneth Wilson; and several great nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM  and Friday, June 28, 2013 until 11:00 AM the hour of service with Rev. Janice McClay officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Evelyn's name to the South Brownsville United Methodist Church 412 Second Street, Brownsville, PA 15417
