Eugene W. Beck

Eugene W. Beck, 81, of Merrittstown, died peacefully with his loving family at his side, on Wednesday, January 8, 2014.  Born on January 17, 1932, he was the son of the late George and Mary Chase Beck.  He was an Army veteran from 1952-1954, where he was a Military Police Corporal.  He was retired as a Federal Coal Mine Inspector for MSHA, was always a loving family man, and was a member of the former Holy Rosary Church, in Republic.  Mr. Beck is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann Calabrese Beck; son, Ronald Beck, and wife Judith, of Washington; daughters, Cindy Martini, and husband Dale, of Merrittstown, Linda Alman, and husband Dr. Robert, of Indiana, PA, JoLynn Paull, of Republic, and Carla and husband Frank Romanelli, of Richeyville; grandchildren, Joseph, Julia, Eileen, Sarah, Rebecca, Marshall, Alexandria, Stacey, and Patrick; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Piper; sister, Dorothy DeCarlo, and husband John, of Ohio; brother, Richard Beck, and wife Barbara, of Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; and his caring neighbors of Merrittstown.  In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Edward, Thomas, and Robert (affectionately known to all as "Babe") Beck.  Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014, in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front St., Brownsville.  A Catholic Blessing will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, in the funeral home, conducted by Rev. James Petrovsky, with interment and military honors following at Lafayette Memorial Park.
