Esther Irene (Baldi) Tunney

Esther Irene Baldi Tunney, age 86, of West Brownsville, PA, died on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in her home.  

She was born August 9, 1929, in Brownsville, PA  the daughter of Ausilio and Josephine Busti Baldi.

Mrs. Tunney was a 1947 graduate of Brownsville High School.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brownsville since 1941, where she served on the church administrative board, taught Sunday School and was a member of the United Methodist Women.  She was a volunteer for the Meals-On-Wheels program at the Center in the Woods, California, PA.
She was employed by the California Area School district as a teacher aide for 27 years, first working at the Republican Elementary School in California and later at the California Area Middle School in Malden.  As a young woman, she enjoyed working as a Bell Telephone switchboard operator in the downtown Brownsville office on Market Street.

Mrs. Tunney was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Glenn L. Tunney, her daughter, Kathy E. Filburn, and her brother, Donald Baldi.  She is survived by her son, Glenn A. and his wife, Melissa, of Grindstone; her daughter Cheryl Adams and her husband, Ken of Belle Vernon; her son-in-law, Timothy Filburn, of Uniontown; three grandchildren: Scott Adams, Kristen Tunney and Kelly Tunney; a cousin, Louise Grafinger Jencik and her husband, Joseph; many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 PM and Friday, December 4, 2015 until 11:00 AM, the hour of service.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.
