Ernest J. Crawford

Ernest J. Crawford, Sr., 81, of West Brownsville, PA, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018. He was born October 22, 1936 in California, PA, the son of George Crawford, Sr. and Dorothy (Woolrich) Crawford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Crawford; son, Larry Gilotti; two brothers, George “Sunny” Crawford and Donald Crawford and by his beloved dogs, Red and Ivory. Ernie was the cafeteria and food supervisor for 28 years at Fox Grocery Store. He also was a cook in the United States Army and retired from the reserves in 1996. He was a member of the American Legion Post 940 and the Erie Sportsman Club and an honorary fireman at West Brownsville Volunteer Fire Company. He will be sadly missed by his partner of 10 years, Virginia Frye; six children, Sandra Boyd and husband Doug, Luann Bubar and husband Bruce, Ernest Crawford, Jr and wife Dawne, Charles Crawford and wife Pam, Wayne Crawford and Scott Crawford and wife Judy; five stepsons, Phillip Lutes and wife Kimberly, Walter Lutes, Wilbert Frye and wife Bobbi, Victor Frye and wife Susan and Larry Frye; 17 grandchildren, the youngest three, Emma Crawford, Ashtyn Frye and Patrick Frye, he was able to spend time with daily and watch grow; brother William Crawford; sister Darlyne Morgan and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA, on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 until 11:00 AM the hour of service with Pastor Dawn Hargraves officiating.
