David Kucherawy Obituary

David A. Kucherawy, age 73, passed away on February 11th, 2026, at his home in Washington, Pa. He is the oldest of five children to the late Albert and Charmaine (Columbine) Kucherawy. August 1st, 1952 was his birthdate at North Charleroi Hospital.

 

David graduated from California Area Schools, California, Pa. in 1970. His two degrees were in the area of Speech and Language Pathology. He taught four years in that curriculum area in Philadelphia Public Schools. An opportunity to work for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania began his administration positions in the state operated Mental Health and Mental Retardation Centers. David was a director of three facilities in his 36 years with the Commonwealth. Later in his career he was assigned in a temporary capacity at various facilities.

 

Activities in adulthood included President of Franklin Rotary Club; President of Venango County’s MH/MR and Drug/Alcohol Organization; Penn State Master Gardener; Gardener Trainer and a GOLD MEDAL Senior Olympian. He excelled in Track and Field Events; 400 Meters and the 4 By 100 Relays.

 

David and Jenny (Matta) Kucherawy were married in July 1977. They celebrated 48 years together. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Brooke Breelyn Kucherawy; granddaughters, Lailani and Mikaela Mbandi. David’s surviving siblings are brothers; Keith (Elaine) Kucherawy and Chris (Tess) Kucherawy. His sisters are; Laurie (Tom) Trettel and Karen (Tony) Consales.

 

Arrangements have been held privately and entrusted to the NOVAK-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA 15417. Interment will be held at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.novakfuneralhome.net.
