Daniel “Pete” Smith

Daniel “Pete” Smith, age 69, of Isabella, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on November 29, 1955, in Brownsville, PA, Pete was the son of the late Robert and Ruth Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Edward Julius Bugai.

Pete retired from the Local 2274 Heavy Highway Carpenters, where he took great pride in his work and the friendships he built over the years. He was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan who rarely missed a game, and he found his greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Geraldine Smith; son Dan “Doodle” Smith and daughter-in-law Jaime Smith, and their children Elizabeth (Shannon) Nelson, Isabella “Bella” Smith, and Daniel “Dano” Smith; daughter Christa “Chrissy” Bugai and son-in-law Ed Bugai, and their daughters Emalee Bugai, Evelyn “Evie” Bugai and great grandson, Brooks-Allen Nelson.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Robert “Denny” Smith, Dana (Anna) Smith, Douglas Smith, Deborah (Richard) Samol, Ronald (Lori) Smith, and Robin Cipriani, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Pete will be remembered for his hard work, humor, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Family would like to give a special thanks to the OSPTA Hospice Care for their wonderful and delicate care for Pete.

Friends and family will be received from 5:00 to 7:00pm, at which time funeral service will be held inside the funeral home on Thursday, October 16th, 2025 at NOVAK-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA 15417.
