Blanche Elizabeth (Porter) Pursglove

Blanche Elizabeth (Porter) Pursglove, R.N., 89, of Brownsville, PA passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014.

She was born July 4, 1924 in East Millsboro, PA the daughter of Ewing and Blanche (Harn) Porter.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Pursglove on May 17, 1984; five brothers, Wilbur, William, Kenneth, James and Phillip Porter and two sisters, Esther Vernon and Anna Mary Huffman.

Blanche was a 1943 graduate of the Brownsville High School and a 1948 graduate of the Brownsville General Hospital School of Nursing.  She was employed for a number of years as a staff nurse at Brownsville General Hospital. She was a member of South Brownsville United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She belonged to the Ladies Aid and was membership chairman. 

Surviving are her two children, William C. Pursglove and wife Geraldine of Uniontown, PA and Lynn Ann Smith and husband James of Buffalo, NY; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Uniontown, PA, Dr. Marci Pursglove, Pittsburgh, PA, Jessica Overholt, Buffalo, NY and Carrie Smith of Buffalo, NY; two great grandchildren Alyson and Jillian Overholt; two sisters, Berthe Perna and Betty Bartolotti; sister in law Theresa Porter; and number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM and Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM the hour of service with the Rev. Jay Polowsky officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.
