Andrew F. Tokar, 90, of Brownsville, PA, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013.
He was born December 25, 1922 in Bentleyville, PA, the son of Andrew and Anna (Balent) Tokar. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, David Tokar and by three brothers and three sisters.
Andy was a veteran of the United States Army, Headquaters Company, 1st Battalion, 109th Regiment, 28th infantry. He was in all five campaign divisions of the European theater: Central Europe, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland (Hurtgen Forest), Northern France (Liberation of Paris) and Normandy.
He was an avid golfer. He was a Five time Nemacolin Country Club Champion. 1952, 1956, 1966 , 1970 and 1971. Also he was the Washington-Greene Amateur Golf Champion in 1953 and 1956.
He will be missed by his wife, Sophie (Yankosky) Tokar; two children Daniel Tokar, Shepardstown, WV and Nancy Pugh and husband Larry, state of California; two grandchildren, Jennifer Laskosky and husband Alan, Canonsburg, PA and Aubrey Tokar, Washington, PA; three great grandchildren, Cayden and Chloe Laskosky and Madalynn Morris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA, today, June 25, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and Wednesday, June 26, 2013 until 12:00 PM, the hour of service with Rev. Father James Clark.
Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
