William Stanley Snyder, III, 70, of East Millsboro, PA, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017.
He was born on February 8, 1947 in Uniontown, PA, the son of William, Jr. and Genevieve (Beal) Snyder. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Snyder, brother in law, Charles Phillips and son in law Ryan Hunt.
Bill graduated from Redstone High School. He went on to California University of Pennsylvania to earn his Bachelor of Science and then to West Virginia University for his Masters. He made a career out of teaching and then moved on to administrator with the Brownsville Area School District. He was a past member of PSEA and NEA.
He was a dedicated fireman belonging to Republic Volunteer Fire Co. for 47 years. He held many positions within the fire company, past president, secretary, treasurer, trustee, safety officer, lieutenant and past commander of the emergency disaster unit. Also, he was instrumental in helping with the annual Easter egg hunt.
Bill was a member of the United States Army Reserves. He belonged to Fort Burd United Presbyterian Church in Brownsville and as an active member he was an elder, clerk of sessions and a deacon. Above all he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren were the love of his life.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Linda (Hone) Snyder; three daughters, Jennifer Milne, Kristen Hunt and fiancé Zach Kaib and Brandi Talkington and husband Bill; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Vanessa and Aaron Milne, Preston and Ethan Hunt, Jaaziah Kaib, Charlotte and Anna Talkington; sister in law, Saundra Phillips; niece, Stacy Phillips; two nephews, Chuck Phillips and Sean Phillips and wife Rita; two great nieces and two great nephews; Rick Milne, Robert Ventura.
Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA, on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 2-7 PM. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Fort Burd United Presbyterian Church, 200 Thorton Road, Brownsville, PA 15417 with Pastor Katy Yates Brungraber officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.
The Republic Volunteer Fire Company will hold a service at 7:00PM on Thursday in the funeral home.
