Lynda (Gadd) Jones

Lynda Gadd Jones of Uniontown, daughter of the late William Gadd and Anna King Gadd Christopher, was called home to the Kingdom of God, peaceful in her sleep, the morning of August 28th, 2018. She was born December 12, 1944 in Brownsville, PA, where she served as the President of the South Brownsville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Lynda Jones was a longtime advocate for women and girls as a founding member and past President of the California Branch of the American Association of University Women, and in her personal life and career life, supported education. Lynda spent her career in the Uniontown Area School District where she taught second grade and finished her career by serving the entire district for reading and writing k-8; she was instrumental in the Private Industry Council’s programs for reading, writing, and math, helping economically disadvantaged children to prevent the summer slide, and she served on the board for Fayette County Head Start and Fayette Literacy Council. After retirement, Lynda continued her support for reading and literacy as a volunteer with the Friends of Uniontown Public Library. Lynda will be sadly missed by her husband Dale Jones, her son Kevin Jones and wife Mary Ellen Jones and her grandson Quinn Jones and family member Alexa Martin. Friends are invited to say their goodbyes and share their condolences at the Novak Funeral Home, 515 Front Street Brownsville, PA, PA on Saturday, September 1, 2018, from 11am to 3pm where a service in celebration of her life will follow for family and friends.
