Gertrude Hill Obituary

Gertrude Jean (Branson) Hill, 90, of Philadelphia, PA passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Manor Care Pittsburgh. 

She was born July 1, 1928 in Point Marion, PA, the daughter of the late Sidney Charles Sr. and Hallie Woods Branson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Clarence Hill, partner Mr. (Gil) Gilbert and siblings, Sidney Charles (Buddy) Branson, Jr., Helen Hunter, Julia Washington, Alice Fields, George Branson, Mansfield Branson, and Frances R. Vaughns.

 Following her graduation from high school, she relocated to Philadelphia, PA where she began her employment at the Quarter Masters Corps.  This is a department of the Federal Government that is a combat support branch to United States Army.  She proudly retired from the Quarter Masters and enjoyed traveling with her life partner Gilbert.  She enjoyed visiting her family in the Uniontown area, gardening, interior design and bus trips to various cities.  She was a lifelong member of Mt. Carmel Methodist Church in Philadelphia PA. 

She will be sadly missed by nieces and nephews: Michael Jones, (Harrisburg, PA); Jewell (Renee) Foster, (Georgia); Clyde Branson (Chestnut Ridge, PA); Lisa Coffey, (Uniontown, PA); Clarence Branson (Navarre, FL); Dana Vaughns (Los Angeles,CA); William Maurice Vaughns (Paris, France); Scott Branson (Newark, DE); and Brandy Whitehead (Sewickley, PA) and many other family members and friends. 

Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 10am -11am with funeral service immediately afterwards.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.
