George P. “Yodie” Bozek, 82, of Smock PA, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 10, 1937 in Franklin Twp, PA, the son of George and Sophie (Pelish) Bozek. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister, Josephine Bozek Kopachko; brother, Joseph Bozek, infant brother, Adam Bozek and wives, Patty Shaffer Bozek and Margret Sintich Plovock Bozek.
George was a member of St. Hedwig Roman Catholic church in Smock, PA until it closed and then joined St. Cecelia Roman Catholic church in Grindstone, PA. He was also a member of the Grindstone Lions Club. George worked as a landscaper, handyman and construction all of his life. He also worked at US Steel Homestead Works as a pourer and caster and up until he retired, he worked at SCI Waynesburg as the groundskeeper and maintenance.
He loved flowers, gardening, cutting the grass and washing cars. He also enjoyed eating especially his sweets.
George will be sadly missed by his wife, Dorothy “Jean” (Stahl) Campbell, DellaPenna, Bozek; children and step children, Rita Plovock Petus (Mike), Smock, PA, George Bozek, III (Cheryl), Smock, PA, Nancy Plovock Wiland (Gary), Seven Fields, PA, Shawnee Bozek Papincak, Perryopolis, PA, Thomas Plovock (Barbara), Fairfield, PA, Maribeth Bozek Kuzmicki (John), Haymarket, VA, Carla DellaPenna, Greensburg, PA, Carl DellaPenna (Amy), Brownsville, PA, Nettie DellaPenna, Grindstone, PA, Vince DellaPenna (Pam), Brownsville, PA, Lisa Campbell Carney (Dave), New Salem, PA, Robin Campbell Cole (Khris), Canonsburg, PA and Susan Campbell Kennedy (Shawn), Republic, PA; grandchildren, Michael Petrus, Thomas Petrus, Ryan Petrus, Justin Bozek, Nick Bozek, Gregory Wiland, Amanda Brown, Leanne Wiland, McKenzie Plovock, Patty Carlson, Alex Kuzmicki, Adam Kuzmicki, Jack Kuzmicki, Bo Kuzmicki, Carl DellaPenna, Caleb DellaPenna, Katie DellaPenna, Anthony DellaPenna, Christina Cotton, Michael Carney, Ashleigh Carney, Jacob Cole, Sidney Cole, Harley Kennedy and Kimberly Kennedy; great grandchildren, Clea, Cruz, Buck, Bearon, James and Rylan and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 3-8 PM. Prayers of Transfer will be at 9:30 AM, Monday, January 14, 2019 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church in Grindstone, PA.
A parish wake service will be held Sunday at 4:00 PM in the funeral home.
Interment will follow in St. Hedwig cemetery, Smock, PA.
